Super Duo and Seed Bead Heart Bracelet – A Free Bead Weaving Tutorial

A Pinterest pin for a bead weaving tutorial on how to make a seed bead heart bracelet

This week’s tutorial is all about my first love when it comes to beading – Super Duos. It was love at first sight many years ago when I found these in a bead shop but over the years I have used them less and less. I am changing that all now thought with this Super Duo and seed bead heart bracelet tutorial.

The video tutorial is posted below but I will just do a quick run down of the beads needed and a few things to note along with a few pictures first.

Beads and Supplies

This bracelet uses a few basic bead weaving supplies –

  • Super Duos in Pearl Shine Red Rose
  • 11/0 ToHo Perma Finish Galvanised Rose Gold Seed Beads
  • Size 11 Preciosa Opaque Red Seed Beads
  • Size 11 Ceylon Pale Pink Seed Beads
  • A Beading needle
  • Beading thread
  • Gold plated jump rings
  • Gold plated clasp

Obviously, these are only my colour suggestions but play with what you have. If you have any colour of Super Duos or Preciosa Twin Beads and three different colours of seed beads then this pattern should work.

More Information On Bead Weaving The Bracelet

I started with an arm span of thread at the start of my bracelet – that is about 59″ for me (I have short arms!) and that made a 7″ bracelet. If you require a longer bracelet then start with a little more thread.

As I have already said, the colours of beads I have used are only a suggestion. I would actually love to see this made with metallic Super Duo beads as I think that would look very effective.

This bracelet requires the beading tension to be maintained all through out the beading process. The Super Duo beads need to be pulled tight so that they sit correctly whilst the rest of the heart is being formed. You will also need to ensure that the pale pink seed beads are positioned correctly near the heart before adding the gold seed beads.

I thoroughly enjoyed rummaging through my bead boxes and rediscovering old friends in the process of designing this bracelet. It has been some time that I experimented with two hole beads. Along the way, I saw my candy beads, bugle beads and pip beads and now my head is full of possibilities.

Thanks for reading. I hope to be back next week with maybe another Valentine’s Day project but if there is anything you would like to see then let me know!
