Seed Bead Flower Earrings – A Free Beading Tutorial

Seed bead flower earrings tutorial

This weeks tutorial is for these light and summery seed bead flower earrings. If you are anything like me and you have a healthy supply of seed beads then this tutorial is perfect for you.

Once you get the hang of the pattern then the earrings are quick to make, so quick in fact that you could make them in a variety of colours to go with different outfits. The hardest part is keeping the beading tight as the flowers are being added. Once you have figured out how to hold the beads though the rest is easy!

I have linked the video below so I will just cover a few basics first.

Bead and Supplies

You will need very few supplies for this beading pattern. I have used –

  • Size 11 Preciosa Permalux Light Pink seed beads
  • Size 8 Preciosa Permalux Mulberry seed beads
  • Size 8 Preciosa Galvanised Silver seed beads
  • A beading needle
  • Miyuki beading thread in dark purple
  • Silver plated wire guardians Silver plated earring wires

If you don’t have Miyuki thread then just make sure that the thread that you are using is reasonably thin as a bulky thread will show in this bead work. Plus we will be going through the size 11 seed beads a few times so having a thicker thread may not work so well depending on your beads.

Alternative Colour Options and Beads

There really is no end to options for colours for these. Because I consider them a Spring / Summer earring I would stick to brighter, fresher colours like blue, pink, purple and yellow.

I would love to see the made entirely in metallic seed beads though, maybe using a brighter colour for the flower centres for a pop of colour. I think that would look really cool.

It is worth remembering that seed beads can vastly vary across brands so if your beading doesn’t look exactly like mine or isn’t working out as well that may be the reason.
