I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to beads. Years ago I stumbled across a bead shop that sold seed beads in colour groups and I absolutely had to have them. I was new to jewellery making and thought it was a really great way to build up my collection. They are now still sitting in a box (or two) and I am ashamed to say that I have used some of them but I still have so many left. I don’t think I realised how many beads could possibly fit into one small tube.

Seed beads are a great addition for any jewellery maker whether it be to fill in gaps in beading or to string together to create striking colourful pieces. As a beginner though, I really struggled to know what to use them for and felt overwhelmed at the choice and amount I suddenly had at my disposal. I was reminded of this a few weeks ago when I was rummaging through for the perfect bead and thought that it would be fun to create a mini series of easy seed bead pieces, more specifically bracelets, that are deliberately very beginner friendly and easy to make.

Here is the first in the series. It is an easy linked bracelet using size 8 seed beads, 6mm and 5mm (although 4mm would be better) jump rings and a clasp. That’s it. So, grab your pliers and beads and get ready to work your way through that bead stash!
