Bead With Me : A Peyote Snowflake Tutorial With Free PDF Pattern

Bead with me - A free peyote snowflake tutorial with pdf pattern

I am cutting it close to Christmas with this Peyote tutorial but I figured that snowflakes can be relevant whenever it is frosty outside and they don’t have to be made into Christmas tree decorations like I have.

I have kept this tutorial as just a video tutorial as I wanted to show every step and that would take ages in photographic form (I’m two days out from Christmas writing this so I am definitely short on time!) but the video shows every single bead and move which I hope is helpful to those less sure of how to follow a Peyote pattern.

I begin beading in the middle of my peyote snowflake as I find it far easier to taper in towards the top instead of starting at the top and building the width out. This means that I peyote my snowflake in two halves and only take my first set of beads halfway down the thread in order to save the other half to bead weave the second half of the snowflake.

For my snowflake I have used size 11 Delica beads in white, dark blue and silver to give a fancy border. If you don’t have these colour beads but want to have a go, the main aim is to aim for good contrast between the snowflake colour and the surrounding colour.

As ever, I have a made a free pdf pattern to accompany the tutorial –

I shall leave you with the video tutorial and a few photos of the finished peyote snowflake.
