If you saw my last tutorial (a beginner’s guide to peyote) you will have heard me say that would be back the following week with a peyote fish tutorial. Well, it may been a more than a few weeks since I posted that but I am back, finally, with my peyote fish tutorial.
It is annoying when life and health get in the way of beading so it is nice to have something to share again!
This is a video tutorial so I have the video posted below.
About This Tutorial…
As I have said, this tutorial is a follow on from my ‘Beginner’s Guide To Peyote‘ video although you do not need to have watched it in order to bead this peyote fish. This tutorial was put together so that I could demonstrate, in a practical sense , what I had shown in that that peyote guide.
This tutorial shows how to work out the tricky peyote increases in beading around the fish’s body, fins and tail and how to decrease the body shape.
I taught various ways to increase peyote beading in the beginners peyote guide so if you need further help with increasing in peyote then I do recommend checking that video out.
Beads and Supplies
I have used size 11 Delica beads for this beading project in the colours:
- Opaque White (DB200)
- Opaque Black (DB010)
- Matte Red AB (DB362)
- Silver Lined Blue Zircon (DB608)
- Pale Yellow Pearl (DB 232)
I have also used Miyuki beading thread in a pale blue and a beading needle.

How To Use Your Peyote Fish
As always, you have free will to use your fish in any way you like. I always tend to made earrings but I did think for these fish that I may be fun to make several so that they could be strung together as a bracelet. By the time I had two fish though I had already come up with an another idea….
I stitched the two finished fish together with a little toy stuffing inside just to add a little bulk to the fish body. I added them to a short length of macramé, alongside two silver toned beach/seaside inspired charms, to be used as a handbag charm.
This was a fun little project to work on as I love working with newish techniques and styles.

Peyote Fish Tutorial
If you have enjoyed that then I also have a brick stitch fish tutorial available and if you love all things fishy and are looking for another peyote project then I have this peyote triangle fish pattern available in my Etsy shop.
Thanks for reading!
