It is safe to say that today’s Inktober prompt of ‘Bait’ really didn’t inspire me that much! I got to draw cute fish which is always fun but I feel after the last 2 days that this drawing falls a little flat.
I added the worm on a fishing hook reluctantly because I think it ruins the peaceful fish. To liven it up a bit though I added some gold detail to the fish.
Also, that is quite a shocking photo! Ah well, there is always tomorrow!

Oh, I think bat would have been so much more fun to draw (as in the flying kind not the one used to hit a ball!)

I really like this! I like the strong black and white contrast, and your little touches of gold are just right! I agree that “bait” isn’t an exciting topic LOL… but you went with it and turned it into something that’s quite memorable.
Thank you 🙂 There is always the odd prompt that I really struggle with but I suppose that is where the challenge aspect comes in to it.
I remember last year when I followed the prompt words each day… and yes, some of them made me scratch my head a little and think… what can I do and how can I do it? That’s one reason why I wanted a definite theme this year LOL.
I think that I am too determined not to do something too obvious but not too complicated everyday as I also have 2 kids that need some of my time. I can’t spend the whole of October obsessed over my drawing lol.
I know! I don’t have any kids at home, but I do have my husband, and I do have a life. Plus, I’m really slow at drawing when I’m trying to do a good job. For me, it’s not possible to make a really detailed ink drawing in the time I have. I look at some of the drawings other artists do, and I wonder how much time those drawings took. I’m working on a graphite drawing right now… I sat down and planned to spend about 20 or 30 minutes on it. I got so involved with it, the next time I looked up, almost an hour had passed, and I’m nowhere near finished with it. (It’s an elderly man with a hat… I’m working on drawing wrinkled faces in graphite. Every morning I try to spend about 30 minutes with graphite, and then I can spend about 30 minutes with ink. And then, if I can squeeze it in, I’m spending another 30 minutes or so with some poster paints, practicing with various color schemes. I wish I had more time for art, but there’s dinner to fix, laundry to do, the bed to make, errands to run… you know how it is. With two kids, you’re even busier than I am. So, we just find what time we can and do what we can with Inktober. Right?
Absolutely. I literally find whatever time I can and squeeze in a little bit of drawing (or whatever project I’m working on). I think the people who do these elaborate Inktober drawings possibly start them weeks before so they can have them done ready to go when October comes round or they are very confident in their drawing and using ink that they simply just draw. Who knows. Funnily enough I thought about today’s a lot less (because I was sat with my son) and just did what I fancied. There is a lot less drawing in it and a lot more cutting and sticking but I loved every second. Taking the time out of my day to be creative makes the more mundane aspects of life (laundry, dishes, cooking etc) far more manageable.
Yes, having a little creative time makes everything else in life go better!
