Today’s prompt is ‘Freeze’. I think I have chosen an obvious route again. The kids have been home all day as school was shut for an in-set day so drawing time has been limited. I thought that snowflakes would be quick and easy. I was wrong. I took far too long agonising over how to draw a snowflake!

I started with wetting my paper and using my brush markers to drop in 3 different shades of blue. Because the paper was wet and the brush markers are filled with ink the colour spread out much like watercolour would. I used my damp brush to fade the colour out as well. Once dried I added my snowflakes and lots of gel pen for highlights and a little sparkle.
If you want to see more Inktober drawing from this year of my previous attempts then you can find them here.
That’s it for today 🙂

Those snowflakes are so pretty! And so delicate. Your method really worked well for this. It’s not only beautiful, it’s very creative.
Thank you for such a lovely comment. I was worried that drawing the snowflakes in black would make them look very heavy but may be not!
Doing snowflakes in ink would definitely be a challenge! I think you did a great job with it.
Thank you 🙂
You have done a lovely job with these Hannah. I really like that shade of blue too.
Thank you 🙂 Drawing all those snowflakes was fun and frustrating!
