I’m feeling accomplished today! I don’t mean to sound smug and I certainly haven’t done anything ground breaking but I’ve survived the day and enjoyed it. I made a loaf of bread, done the laundry, gone to my daughter’s mock ballet exam, my little boy was an angel throughout said ballet (don’t ask me about before the ballet though!), found baby shrimp in my shrimp tank (huge as we haven’t had much success with them so far) and dealt with my daughter’s hysteria when a cold drink was accidentally spilled on her (sensory issues on top of a big day for her). On top of that both kids are fed and happy, I’ve eaten my body weight in chocolate (and I’m not small ;)) and I made a card. Hurrah!
Not entirely sure what made me make a kite card but I looked at my Hero Arts cloud stamp and thought “ah ha, kites”. I stamped in salty ocean distress ink. I don’t find it easy ink to stamp with but decided to go with the slightly more unfinished look that you get with it today. I thought that by using my Wink of Stella over the top it would help the ink to move and give a better finish but it didn’t really work – I possibly left the ink dry too much before trying it. The result though was a really sparkly sky image. I made a kite template and used scraps of patterned paper to make it up. I stamped and embossed my greeting and put it all together. A little more Wink of Stella and some glossy accents and I was done. Why the hearts I hear – well sod’s law meant I managed to get glue on the blue ink which made it smudge all over a white cloud. I could of cried after all my work but carrying on with the tone of the day a just stuck a load of hearts down and decided to move on. Here is a close up, hopefully, of all the sparkle and shimmer.
There is plenty I haven’t got done today but I’m choosing to celebrate what I have done.
