Watercolour Play – World Watercolour Month

Well, July is officially World Watercolour month and I wanted to join in but the month has gone by so fast and I haven’t done one painting. I have had some quiet time today to sit at my desk and, fully intending on doing some beading, I found myself getting my watercolours out and filling my water pot. Anyone else find themselves doing things like that?

I also watched a YouTube video by Angela Fehr yesterday where she painted these lovely flowers that appeared out of nowhere as she painted. A dab of colour here and there and suddenly a flower was painted. I’m in awe of talent like that.

My painting was more than likely inspired by yesterday’s viewing.

The official prompt for today was rainbow so I went with rainbow type colours.

    1. Thank you. I hope this makes sense – I started by painting the background in pale shades of the blue, pink, yellow etc. Once this was done and almost dry I decided where I wanted the flower centres to be and painted them in. After that I painted in the flowers by using a more concentrated version of paint and painted around the shape of the petals (making the darker bit on the outside of the flower). If the flower was on blue then I went around in blue etc. I used a clean brush to soften the edges inside and outside of the petals.

Does that make any sense?! Just ask if you want any more info πŸ˜ƒ Hxx

  1. Absolutely stunningly brilliant. Hannah.
But … everything you paint always is.
I love your paintings because of their incredible style and love which is painted in each stroke.
It’s so good to have you back.
