Rabbits with Carrots Peyote Triangle Pattern

A Pinterest pin showing a peyote triangle with three rabbits amongst a bed of carrots.

I have been a little slow with the patterns and tutorials recently but I did manage to sneak out this cute rabbit peyote triangle pattern just before Easter. The intention was to share it in time for Easter but life had other plans. As I was sowing my carrot seeds the other day it occurred to me that rabbits and carrots are not just for Easter so I should share it anyway.

This pattern in available in my Etsy shop so I will just talk a little about the pattern before sharing a quick YouTube short showing some of the making process.

About the Rabbits with Carrots Peyote Triangle Pattern

When I sit to design a bead pattern I always start with a subject close to my heart. On this occasion the rabbit wasn’t the main focus for me (although they are very cute), but I have been thinking about making a set of patterns based around my love of gardening and growing vegetables. This is a tentative start on that. I dream of making a big beaded vegetable garden tapestry one day!

This pattern uses 7 colours of Size 11 Delica beads and the pattern is 24 rows of beading. The finished beaded triangle is 6cm (just over 2)” along each side.

The comprehensive PDF peyote triangle pattern will provide you with the :

  • Delica bead list (size 11)
  • Bead count
  • Basic instructions (such as thread length) with a video link on how to make peyote triangles
  • Diagram with symbols
  • Word chart

Before tackling this pattern you will need to know how to make peyote triangles. I have a few free peyote triangle tutorials here on my blog and YouTube so if you need help with getting started they are the place to start.

Bead Colours

Whilst I have obviously included a list of all the bead colours that I have used in the pattern you may wish to choose your own from your beading stash. I would say that the white of the rabbit in a non negotiable. They originally started as light grey rabbits but there was insufficient contrast between the blue back ground the rabbits themselves. These rabbits are the star of the show so they really need to stand out.

I would also say that keeping the black beads for the eyes helps them pop nicely but a very dark blue may work too. As for the other colours, as long as there is enough contrast between the colours then it should work well. The carrots obviously need to be orange through otherwise they may look a little strange. I type this knowing full well that I currently have purple carrots growing in my garden!

I have also played around with bead finishes so the blue ‘sky’ background is a shiny light blue whilst the rabbits and carrots are all opaque beads.
