I hope your week has started well. The kids are off school on their half term holiday so we have been busy today with a play date and trip to Hobby Craft (UK craft store) to stock up on children’s crafting essentials. It was mainly for my 6 year old son as he had a desk for Christmas and birthday money burning a hole in his pocket. He wanted stickers and glitter glues to fill his desk and as a crafter and parent I had to fulfil his wish. He took as much delight in craft shopping as I do 🙂
Anyway, I have had a little time to finish this weeks illustration for the Facebook 52 week illustration challenge. This week was ‘Garden’ and originally I was going to draw flowers or some such gardeny (totally didn’t just make up that word) things but I kept dithering about doing it. My husband suggested that, since I love semi-precious stones, why not draw a crystal garden. I loved the idea so I set up my little crystal garden still life. It was actually very daunting as I have never drawn/painted crystals before and really had no idea how to get the shine or show the colour variations in the stones.
Watercolour with colour pencil and white gel pen.
Botany next week so it looks like I will get to draw plants after all!
Thanks for reading.

You’ve done a beautiful job, what a great idea! 😊
Thank you 😃 Wasn’t sure if I stretched the theme a little too far but I enjoyed painting it.
This is lovely! And the shine turned out very well too!
Thank you 😃
