Another year has passed and, as of last Sunday, I am another year older. I have been given a lovely selection of gifts and I appreciate them all but I thought I’d show you the amazing shawl my sister knitted for me. I admired one that she had knitted in the early summer and cheekily suggested that she could knit me one too. I am one of those people who is always cold – it has to be a heatwave for me not to need a hot water bottle at night and when most people are thinking about maybe adding a jumper as the temperatures drop I am already in thermals. My husband affectionately refers to me as ‘freak’ on this matter and considering that everyone else around me seems perfectly comfortable whilst my toes my drop off from cold I probably have to agree.
My sister arrived with a gift bag on Friday and there was no way I was going to wait for my birthday to open it. Inside was the most gorgeous shawl; the colours are perfect, the size is perfect and it is so cosy and warm. It is absolutely what I need when I’m sat at my desk or sitting on the sofa.
Isn’t it lovely? I can’t tell you anything about the pattern or yarn (my other sister corrected me when I called them ‘balls of wool’ :D) because it’s a totally foreign language to me.
I tried to do a posh photo of it on the sofa but couldn’t edit out my old postman pat pencil case (aka my sofa painting case) and Lego City box out without it looking odd. I decided to replace fancy with a real life shot and just for good measure I’m going to throw you a picture of my ugly mug because I am modelling my new shawl.
I really am so pleased with this. It is the PERFECT present.
Now that I’ve thoroughly scared you with that photo I will show you something else super pretty. My husband bought me these fun paints to try.
Again, another very sophisticated photo! They are the Pebeo Prisme Fantasy paints. They create a cool pattern as they dry. I’ve seen them used in jewellery making but they say that they go on to most surfaces. I made a few swatches on Yupo paper and only with 3 colours as I can’t get the lids off the other three!
Look at that cool pattern. The photos I took are really bad but I hope to have a play over the next few weeks and have something more impressive to show.
Right I’m off to snuggle in my new shawl.

Happy Belated Birthday Hannah!! Your shawl is Beautiful and so are you 🙂 I love the colors and pattern too! The paints!! The pattern is definitely cool! Enjoy the rest of your week!
Thank you Ruthie 😃 I need a lot of playtime with those paints and now I have the lids off the other 3 I can try the other colours!
Yay! I can’t wait to see all your creative ventures!
😃
Oh my gosh, I have so much to say! Firstly, belated Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day 🙂
Secondly, that really is a lovely shawl, and I’m so glad to finally see your (lovely, not ugly) face in the bargain.
Also, can’t wait to see what you do with those paints. They look really cool!
Thank you 😃 I had a lovely day thanks. We had snow which I love 😍 The shawl is so cosy. My husband got the lids off the other 3 paint colours so I can test them out too. Can’t wait to have a play.
Happy birthday, and what a gorgeous present that is! It definitely looks super snuggly! 💕
I love the paint effects, and am looking forward to seeing you try them out.
Thank you Anita. The paints are very interesting – I’m still trying to figure out how to use them 😃
Belated Birthday Greetings! Another year older? nooo. You only ever tell people that you are 4/5/6/7/8 …. whatever your shoe size is. And then … when you get really wrinkly (and I mean REALLY winkly) then you change your age to your bra size.
A lady is never older than her shoe size, or bra measurement if in dotage.
It’s a rule I invented about 30 years ago and I’ve stuck by it ever since. IT WORKS! And people are so polite about it. lol.
GREAT shawl. Aww I love it.
I know exactly what you mean about feeling the cold Hannah, for I’m the same. My toes feel like they’re going to freeze and drop off some days. And my upper back get’s frozen by the slightest draft. So I can relate to the feeling. That shawl is going to be well used by you, and the colour really suits you. Great job Sis!
The Pebeo Prisme Fantasy paints . . . you’re going to LOVE those paints. I’m saying no more, but you really are going to be smitten. (Mind you Pebeo are hard pressed not to come out with something amazing. Such a great company).
Sending late Birthday Squidges and love ~ Cobs. xxx ❤
Thank you Cobs. My age is my shoe size so I’m a pretty solid 4.5 😅 You have the same paints? What have you done with them. I was hoping to use them on fimo but I saw somewhere that people complained that they didn’t work well with it. I’m going to have to experiment (and spend many hours browsing on pintrest!)
I am currently wrapped in my lovely new shawl as my heating packed up this weekend and my house is sooooooo cold. There is a real possibility I may actually freeze 🤣
Happy Sunday.
Hannah x
I’ve played with them on metal but I haven’t yet played with them on Fimo.
However …. go and watch these three videos on YouTube.
The writing you see isn’t in English … but that doesn’t matter because there are no words spoken in eithr of the videos. There is music, but you can turn that down if you find it annoying.
She shows you exactly how to use these paints so that you don’t end up with a sludgey mess. Take note of how she adds the paints, and then how carefully she ‘drags’ the colours. Then take a look at how well things have worked when the pieces are dry.
2nd video:
3rd video:
Then …. joy of joys, I actually found her blog…. and the page where she shows you all her videos on these paints … (there are more than the three I’ve shared here), and if you read in the questions sections below all the vids. someone asks about her bezels, and she gives you the link to the page where she shows you how she made the bezels.
Hope this helps you. ~ Cobs. xxx
Thank you I shall check out those links. Making bezels is in my plans for the new year because it would open up a new type of jewellery making. Ooh the possibilities 🙂 Hxx
You’re going to like those links then. (Don’t forget to look out for the link to a previous post, in the comments section!). C xxx
Hello! Happy birthday! And enjoy your beautiful gift! The shawl looks very beautiful and I’m sure it’s warm as well. I also wanted to encourage you to use Pebeo Fantasy with polymer clay. I love Pebeo Paints (Fantasy Prisme and Moon) and I always had great results when putting Prisme on polymer clay. This is how I used them, maybe you’ll find something to inspire you in the tutorial https://youtu.be/BNnwhvnBIh0 Or some pieces painted with Pebeo paints https://learnpolymerclay.blog/2015/12/18/happy-holidays/
Anyway, I’m sure you’ll have great results while playing with Pebeo Paints and I can’t wait to see the results of your creative process. Have a blessed and inspired day!
Thank you so much. I shall check out the links you’ve given. I look forward to seeing what you have done with them. I’ve had a little play on clay and I absolutely love them. Hannah
Thank you for your reply and for checking my video when you’ll have the time! Pebeo Paints are wonderful and luckily they work well with polymer clay. Have a wonderful and creative day!
