Exciting News

Woo hoo, I got published!!!

In a magazine!!!

A little while ago I made reference to a secret project that had been taking up some of my crafting time, well, this week my magazine subscription of Beads and Jewellery Magazine arrived (October/November, Issue 89) with my article of a bead weaving bracelet tutorial.

I’ll rewind a little, at the beginning of this year I won a competition for some beads when I sent is a photo ofย  a bracelet I had made. The editor emailed me to let me know that I had won and asked if I would like to have a go at being one of her designers. I totally jumped at the chance, rang my husband, squealed down the phone and then panicked because I really didn’t have a clue how to write a beading tutorial.

I made a resolution that this year I was going to be brave and take whatever opportunity came my way so there was no way I was going to turn this down.

I can also confirm that I have two articles coming in the next magazine too!!! Yep, even more squealing.

Anyhoo, I don’t think I can share any of the photos of the article as they belong to the magazine for now so here is something new I have been working on.

I hope you have all had a good weekend.

  1. Ohhh HANNAH!!!! How BRILLIANT is this???!!!!

I’m beside myself with glee for you and feel so proud that I know you. I always knew you had a spark of greatness inside you. I think, after a time of being a writer and tutor for the magazine, I reckon the next step on this road is . . . an author in your own right. I can see a selection of books in your future. Not one, but many. So … don’t give everything away in one big book… but instead focus on (say) six or seven ‘teach-ins per book, and you can then change techniques and projects for each book!

Very well done Hannah. I’m over-joyed for you. You clever thing!

    1. Ah, thank you Cobs – I knew you would get how exciting this has been. Ha ha, your brain is working like mine. First magazine articles, then maybe try selling some tutorials on Etsy then a book and then…โ€ฆโ€ฆ world crafting domination (cue evil laughter – mwhaaaahaaa) I would love to write a book about incorporating the clay with the bead weaving or a recipe book for my clay keyrings, or even better – polymer clay Christmas decorations. Really I’m saying that I have far more ideas than I have time but I’m trying to dream big and see where it takes me. Hxxx

      1. Make a list Hannah. In a special book bought only for your brilliant Ideas. Keep it on one side and every time you have an idea, add it to the list in the book.

Some things might never come to fruition, and some things you might change your mind on and cross them off the list. BUT … the important thing is that you’ve got a record of them and can review the list whenever you wish to. Something on the list might not happen right away … but a couple of years down the line it might just be the right time for that *thing* to happen …. and then you CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN … when the time is right for you.

Buy a book (aldi have one in their sale items called BRILLIANT IDEAS – it’s actually a diary, but hey … we’re crafters, we can make each page whatever we want it to be).
        Make a list.
Add to the list as and when brilliant ideas spring to mind.

You know all this already. You is clever. Like me is clever, only more cleverer. ๐Ÿ˜€

Sending much love to you, and again …. congratulations on the incredible news. I’m so proud of you! ~ Cobs. xxx

      2. You are so right (not about me being cleverer than you) about keeping a note pad full of ideas ready for when the time is right. It may stop me getting fidgety about wanting to do it all now if I know my ideas are kept safe ๐Ÿ™‚ Hxx
