Inktober 2019 Day 1

It’s October so it can only mean one thing – Inktober is here! (OK, bear with me, I’m sure October means many things to people besides a drawing challenge 😉)

If you have never heard of Inktober it is a drawing challenge, set up by a chap called Jake Parker, where you draw something every day (or as much as you can) in the month of October. There is an official prompt list that I am planning to follow but many people just draw whatever they wish and post of social media.

So jumping in with day 1 and the prompt word is ‘Ring’

Inktober 2019 Day 1 Ring

I started with some papers that I had previously coloured with alcohol inks.

I then drew out my flowers and leaves directly onto the alcohol ink.

I cut the shapes out and decided where they were to go before sticking them down.

A few close up of the gold ink details from the alcohol ink. I also used a gold acrylic pain pen to add gold dots.

I hope you enjoyed day 1.

Are you doing inktober? If so, do you plan to do it everyday or just a few, are you sharing on social media? Let me know – I love to see how others approach these things.

  1. I love your creativity! I’m doing Inktober, too, so feel free to stop by my blog and check out my drawings. I’m still very much a beginner with inks, so don’t expect too much LOL. I have never used alcohol inks and am very curious about them. There’s so much to learn. I will be following along with your blog to see what else you come up with during the month.

    1. Thank you. I will probably throw some regular ink drawings in for ease but I have so many of these papers covered in alcohol inks so I really hope I get to make another picture like this. Alcohol inks are so fun to play with and the end results can be a little unpredictable. Messy too but totally worth it.

      1. Ooh, I many have to do another blog post on them. Give me a shout if there is anything in particular you want to know. I did a blog post about them years ago but I have no idea anymore if it’s any good lol.

      2. Oh, let me browse through your blog and see what I can find. I know NOTHING about alcohol inks other than that they produce gorgeous colors. Let me go take a look right now in your blog archives!

      1. Me. too. Especially those who take it outside the proverbial “box” and step beyond the obvious. 🙂 ❤
