Reindeer Polymer Clay Slab Tutorial

I am back today with a quick and simple polymer clay tutorial showing how to make yourself some fun and festive earrings.

I have added a YouTube video at the end of the post to show making the reindeers in closer detail.

How To Make Reindeer Polymer Clay Earrings

Condition and roll out a small amount of brown clay. If you are making a set of earrings use a clay cutter to get a consistent size of reindeer head. Mine was rolled on a number 3 on my machine and then I used a circle cutter to measure out the same quantity of clay for each reindeer.

2.Cut two equal size pieces of the same brown clay and shape into triangles. Attach to the side of the head and use a small ball tool to shape the center of each ear.

3. Make a mix of equal parts brown, white and gold clay and roll into a snake. Cut two equal size pieces and roll as shown above. Cut another two pieces smaller in size and roll as shown.

4. Put the longer pieces on top of the smaller pieces so that they intersect as shown. They need to be a mirror image.

5. Position the antlers and pick up the reindeer head. Place the head on top of the antlers and press down.

6. Make the eyes and nose and position on the reindeer head.

7. Condition some gold clay and roll out on a number 3. Tear up some gold foil and press into the clay. Lay the reindeer heads on the clay with enough room around them so shapes can be cut with out cutting into the reindeer.

8. Cut your shapes and pop into the oven following the instructions on the clay packet. Once cooled give two coats of gloss varnish to help protect the gold foil. Make into earrings and dazzle everyone with your festive jewelry.
